Mographia produced a motion graphics video for She Jams, a women-focused game development event held in Saudi Arabia, sponsored by NEOM and GCON. The purpose of the video was to promote the event and attract gaming enthusiasts, particularly those passionate about game development. To create an engaging and relevant style, we chose a retro arcade game theme to visually connect with the gaming community and highlight the creative spirit of game development.
The main challenge was designing a video that both captured the essence of the event and resonated with a niche audience of game developers and enthusiasts. The video needed to stand out and appeal to viewers familiar with gaming aesthetics, while also celebrating the empowerment of women in the industry.
Our approach was to adopt a retro arcade style, using vibrant pixel art, classic 8-bit animations, and nostalgic game elements that would evoke the early days of gaming. Each scene was illustrated to mimic a retro game, complete with pixelated visuals, iconic game sounds, and animations reminiscent of vintage arcade screens. This style not only attracted attention but also provided a playful, engaging backdrop to highlight the goals of She Jams in a way that was immediately relatable to the target audience.
The final video successfully captured the excitement and purpose of the She Jams event, drawing in viewers with its retro arcade game aesthetic. The video resonated with both gaming enthusiasts and developers, creating a nostalgic connection while promoting She Jams’ mission to support women in the gaming industry. The retro style helped the video stand out on digital platforms, drawing interest from a diverse audience and reinforcing the event’s focus on creativity, empowerment, and gaming culture.
